Central Asia Case Competition "CRACK IT" - done!

On April 20, Almaty hosted Central Asia Case Competition "CRACK IT", where the best students of Almaty Management University (Kazakhstan) and American University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan) met.

The regional business case championship is an opportunity to immerse in the work of leading companies, think over actual business cases and problems and develop a team solution.

The championship was attended by 90 students from AlmaU and AUCA, who were combined into 15 teams.

It was great to work together with AUCA students,” said Almas Toleubayev, a 2nd year student of “Minor-Entrepreneurship” program and a fellow of Yerzhan Tatishev Foundation, “they were well prepared, it was very nice to get new experience in teamwork. Thanks to the skills and competencies that we gain in  “Minor-Entrepreneurship” program, business case solution was not an easy task, but an interesting task”.

“CRACK IT” winners were the combined team of AlmaU and AUCA — “Fantastic Three” of Aigerim Kalauova, Aizhan Tursunova, Yulia Duzhenko, and also “BAG” team of Adelia Turdalieva, Gulmira Ibraeva and Bakyt Mamytbekova. The winners of the case-championship got the opportunity to take part in “Big Ideas Camp” Summer Business School, which will be in Pavlodar this year.

2nd place was taken by “Team 12” which included: Zhamilya Kubanycheva, Aygerim Mirbekova, Aygerim Sagynbayeva, Almas Toleubayev, Anastasia Stelmakh.

And, 3 place was taken by  "Hunters" team, consisting of: Chacyki Kaparbekova, Temirlan Turganbekov, Atay Amanatova, Aygerim Kariyeva and Aelin Ismailova.

“Students, learn how to analyze and compare data, work in a team, present solutions, answer jury questions,” says Assem Kabulova, project manager of CEID. “The most important is that the case-championship allowed students to use their theoretical knowledge and skills in practice.”

The jury of the competition were:

• Alexandra Vishnevskaya - Senior Lecturer, Finance Department, AlmaU;

• Ibrayev Baglan - Senior Analyst, Investment Banking Department, Tengi Capital JSC;

• Alisher Sadykov - President of “Changellenge” - business case league;

• Serik Akhmadiev - Senior Consultant, Transaction Advisory Services, EY;

• Malika Seitova - Senior Analyst, Transaction Advisory Services, EY;

• Nizami Teymurov - Co-founder & Head of Private Equity Astero Investment Group.

The event was organized by AlmaU Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development.
