About the results of AlmaU partnership with Yessenov Foundation
On August 2, AlmaU held an awarding ceremony for students of 8-week intensive modular course of Yessenov Data Lab Summer School. The organizer was Academician Shahmardan Yesenov Scientific and Educational Foundation. For the second year in a row, the summer school was held at Almaty Management University. The summer school program was aimed at analysts who are engaged in coding and programming, including solving real business problems through automated systems SAP, Artificial Intelligence.
At the awarding ceremony, Yessenov Foundation project manager Roumisa Bashaeva had a speech and noted the following: “For the second year in a row, we held the Summer School for IT professionals at Almaty Management University who are interested in data analytics. It is worth noting that this year we were more focused on practice. Last year we had a more lecture format, but this year we tried to make our lecturers pay more attention to laboratory work on Big Data. We conducted surveys every Friday for 8 weeks. According to the reviews, it can be judged that the school program was affordable and practical. We keep in touch with last year graduates, from time to time we find out where and what they do. Our foundation practices supporting communication with graduates of a particular program as a whole on all projects”
On joint work with our university, Rohmisa Bashaeva said: “I want to thank the management and staff of Almaty Management University. For the last two years we have been working very closely with School of Engineering Management, represented by Dean Kuanysh Abishev and School Professor Timur Bakibaev. They completely devoted all their time and energy to the Summer School program. We appreciate their efforts because it was not easy. Everything was always done in a timely manner, feedback was provided, in brief, they blazed through the event organization and holding!
I think it is not our last joint project. I hope that we will continue to educate the younger generation in new trends in IT field. As I see it, Academician Shahmardan Yesenov Scientific and Educational Foundation has a very similar mission and values with AlmaU”.
On the sidelines of the awarding ceremony, we managed to talk with Bekarys Nurtay a student, who came to study from Nur-Sultan, a 4th year student at Nazarbayev University with a degree in Robotics: “For my specialization, Machine Learning is very important. Over the past 8 weeks, I have increased my knowledge of the beneficial advantages of Big Data. By the end of the training, I had ideas about developing smart homes, a smart garbage recycling scheme where waste would be distributed independently.
After completing the bachelor programme, I plan to enter a master programme related to the study of artificial intelligence and its use in prosthetics of skeletons, and I want to conduct research work on development of social robots. Thanks to studying at Yessenov data lab Summer School, I got a motivation to do research in the field of artificial intelligence.”
So, one more substantial educational event at AlmaU ended in partnership with Academician Shahmardan Yesenov Scientific and Educational Foundation. The summer school achieved its goal by issuing certificates on completion of a modular course for Big Data Analysts to over 20 students.
A new academic year is going to start, and in this connection, our university and partners have a lot of plans for cooperation.
