13th CEEMAN International Management Teachers Academy

13th CEEMAN International Management Teachers Academy (IMTA) successfully concludes in Bled, Slovenia

Bled, June 22, 2012 - The 13th edition of the International Management Teachers Academy (IMTA), organized by CEEMAN, successfully concluded at IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia. This year, 36 participants from 19 countries came to Bled to attend this major European faculty development program.

From 10-22 June 2012, 36 participants from 19 countries (Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and USA) had a chance to improve their competences and skills related to methodology of teaching management, as well as those related to specific management disciplines, such as: Strategic Management, Marketing, Finance/Accounting, and Leadership and Change Management. They also receive inputs related to other roles that management educators play: research, consultancy and institution building and administration.

The program faculty included internationally renowned professors from the best business schools around the world: Prof. James C. Ellert, IMD, Switzerland and IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia; Prof. Joe Pons, President of AXIOMA Marketing Consultants, Spain; Prof. J.B. Kassarjian, IMD, Switzerland and Babson College, USA; Prof. Krzysztof Obloj, School of Management at Warsaw University and Kozminski University, Poland; Prof. Arshad Ahmad, Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

The International Management Teachers Academy is a creative response to the growing need for highest quality management education in the world of transition. This world-class and innovative program is aimed at developing a new generation of management educators for a new generation of successful and responsible business leaders,” stressed Prof. Danica Purg, President of the IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia, and President of CEEMAN.

IMTA 2012 participants emphasized that the program represented the major milestone in their professional development and a unique opportunity for deep personal reflections. “From year to year we have been observing continuously growing share and quality of horizontal learning taking place among the program participants. This reflects a continuously growing quality of management education, innovations taking place in a number of schools, but also a steadily growing impact and multiplier effect of the IMTA program,” says Milenko Gudić, IMTA Managing Director.

While exchanging ideas and experience with colleagues from other countries, IMTA participants also establish and strengthen personal friendships and professional contacts. With the 2012 program edition, the IMTA Alumni Association connects 448 alumni, young university teachers and junior faculty from 135 business schools, universities, and other management development institutions from 37 countries from all over the world. This powerful network facilitates mutual communication and cooperation among IMTA alumni and their institutions, while also serves as a platform through which CEEMAN continues providing support to IMTA alumni in their personal, professional and institutional development.

During the program, the participants were greeted also by Mr. John C. Reid, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility, The Coca-Cola Company who expressed his firm belief that management education has very important role in building sustainable future of the world. The IMTA 2012 Graduation Ceremony was attended also by H.E. Bahtijors Hasans, the Ambassador of Latvia to Slovenia, and Mr. Andrey S. Myasnikov, Counselor at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Slovenia, who came to greet participants from their countries.
