Minister Sayasat Nurbek meets with Rick Shangrow, President of Cintana Education
On December 6, in Astana, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek met with President of Cintana Education, member of the AlmaU Board of Trustees Rick Shangrow, President of AlmaU Assylbek Kozhakhmetov, Rector Gulnar Kurenkeeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Development Assel Aryn.

During the meeting, the importance of a unique trilateral cooperation between Arizona State University Cintana Education and Almaty Management University was noted. Moreover, the university presented its ideas for the enhancement of higher education in Kazakhstan.
It was noted that Kazakhstan has the potential to become a regional hub of higher education, where various international models of organization are applicable. The participants of the meeting discussed the problems that higher education managerial community faces in current times. Primarily, there are many training programs for university managers and leadership, but human capital in this industry is still lacking many modern competencies. The lack of specialized programs for operational managers is also a problem.

As a result, the institution shared its ideas for solving these problems. Besides, AlmaU raised the issue of commercialization of science and scientific achievements. All these recommendations are based on many years of experience at Arizona State University and kindly provided by American partners. ASU is the most prestigious educational institution in the United States. AlmaU, based on the expertise of its strategic partner, presented the Ministry mechanisms for the commercialization of research projects.
Mr. Sayasat Nurbek assigned the Committees of Science and Higher and Postgraduate Education to study the models proposed by AlmaU.
