RestoRound: trends in the restaurant business in Kazakhstan
On February 21, 2019 AlmaU School of Hospitality and Tourism held the first RestoRound - a round table on the trends of the restaurant business in Kazakhstan. RestoRound is a discussion platform for restaurateurs, where they can exchange practical experience and discuss real-life cases from domestic restaurateurs.
The first RestoRound gathered ten bright speakers:
- Gaukhar Assion, owner of Chez Mademoiselle restaurant (Paris, France), with the theme “Restaurant concept: how to get to Michelin guide four times”
- Radovan Simonovich, Director of Cafe Central and Roma Caffe restaurants (Dostyk Plaza shopping center), with the theme “Experience and problems of opening a restaurant in shopping centers”
- Oleg Litvinov, Brand ambassador MONIN, with the theme “We follow the trends or dictate them”
- Madina Smykova, AlmaU professor, with the theme “The main trends in the development of the restaurant market of Kazakhstan
- Edgar Davtyan, co-owner of projects “Lariss Ivannu Hachu”, "Saebiz", "Seven Seven" karaoke bar, etc., with the theme "Marketing plan for opening a restaurant through the eyes of the owner"
- Dmitry Korolev, the chief barman of the "Parmigiano Group", Barmaglot, with the theme "Issues of personnel shortage in the restaurant business of Kazakhstan"
- Seitzhan Ospanov, founder of the First Restaurant School in Kazakhstan, with the theme "Waiters as the sales department in a restaurant"
- Zhardem Ospanbekov, Brand ambassador of Beam Suntory alcoholic brand, co-founder of 3 Branches consulting agency, with the theme “Digital projects in the restaurant industry”
- Alexey Kovalchuk, Director of Dodo Pizza, with the theme “Prospects for the delivery market in Almaty”
- Alima Balgabekova, Director of Sales and Marketing of "DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty" hotel, with the theme "Effective organization of outlets during events in hotels"
The speakers shared their cases and discussed development of the restaurant services market, and also actualized the problems of Kazakhstan education in terms of training specialists in service.
AlmaU First Vice-Rector Almagul Kanagatova presented educational opportunities of the university and spoke about development of School of Hospitality and Tourism.
