To develop the management during the crisis? Exactly!

The 23rd CEEMAN Annual Conference will take place in Almaty, 23-26 September 2015. The theme of this conference: “Localization vs. Globalization of Management Development in Dynamic Societies”. The organizers of the conference are CEEMAN (Slovenia) and Almaty Management University (former IAB, Almaty).

On the first view, the theme of the conference is blurred and makes us doubt in its relevance for this moment. However, if look attentively it seems clearer that, Kazakhstan crucially needs a new view, including today’s economic situation.

Let’s start from the notion of DYNAMIC SOCIETIES, DS. This is more modern and right notion of what we called earlier “developing countries”, “transit economy countries”. On the conference you will find out why Singapore as well as Kazakhstan can be called DS, but for instance China not.

LOCALIZATION or GLOBALIZATION? This question is one of the crucial for today. If 10 years ago the importance of globalization was clear, today it is not so simple. The time has shown that there will be no leaders in the world, that every country has a right to live, to think and to develop differently.

MANGEMENT development. It does not matter how much money, clever heads you have. All of it is useless without good management. You cannot upgrade the country without management development – especially it is crucial during crisis, when you are forced to find resources, to approach the problem with creativity, and find new opportunities in a place you have never thought about.

Assylbek KOZHAKHMETOV, the President of Almaty Management University: “Devaluation comes and goes. The country stays. It is important to take into consideration managers’ way of thinking, way of managing the economy, it is important to understand which ideas country stand for, how it is managed and moved. There is an expression – helicopter view. Exactly from the helicopter you will be able to see such a picture: the road separates a little glade – from the one side you can see actively growing wheat, from the other side potholes. Even if the rain watered both of them similarly, the soil is the same, but the hosts are different. We will take a look from our own helicopter and find out the way of their thinking and ours. The values they stand for and ours. We will see, what common do we have, and what is the difference, and to what extend their experience is applicable to us.

The conference will discuss global issues such as the development of entrepreneurship, innovation, management; the effect of the balance of globalization and localization on management and leadership; management development in line with the challenges and needs of business and society.

Speakers of the 23rd CEEMAN conference are: Jean-Pierre Lehmann, Founder of Evian group in Switzerland; Renaud Chamonal, President of  the Association of French business circles in Kazakhstan (ACFAK), the president of the company “Danone Berkut”; Dipak Jane, Director of Sasin Graduate Institute of Business, Thailand; Helmut Shutte, Vice-president and Dean of Chinese-European International Business School, China (CEIBS); Irina Sennikova, Vice-president of CEEMAN, Rector of Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration, Latvia (RISEBA) and others.
