Main spring event - Nauryz Toi at AlmaU

On April 23, at AlmaU, the traditional holiday of spring and prosperity - Nauryz Toi took place!

Nauryz is a holiday symbolizing the vernal equinox, the renewal of nature, and the friendship of nations. Celebration of such a significant event for the whole country is an integral part of AlmaU culture.

On this day, AlmaU employees, teachers and students tried themselves at sports events, admired the amazing creations of artisans, tasted fragrant and crumbly pilaf, national cuisine ...

At Nauryz all divisions of the university participated in the traditional competition for the most sweet and delicious "Nauryz-Dastarkhan". And the jury tried to cope with the overwhelming task - to determine whose table is still the most sophisticated, original and delicious, trying bauyrsaki, chak-chak, halva and much more. The holiday began with national sports competitions such as rope pulling, lifting weights, asyks, and also kazaksha kures, Kazakh national wrestling. In addition to these competitions in agility and strength, participants of the festival played various board games, such as chess, asyks and togyz kumalak.

Mood of the event was set by festive songs and dances of various nations celebrating Nauryz. There were fascinating sounds of the dombra; foreign students studying at AlmaU showed their national dances, combining them into one bright authentic mosaic, which ended with a parade of flags to the strains of AlmaU student anthem. Incendiary Caucasian dance “lezginka”, zumba to national melodies, traditional tug-of-war between teams of students and university staff - did not leave anyone indifferent.

At the end of the holiday, there was performance of a popular Uygur group “Yashlyk”.

The treat did not end there - the participants were able to taste the delicious crumbly pilaf, hot bauyrsaks, and, of course, the traditional drink - Nauryz-kozhe. By the end of the holiday, the most reckless and still hungry managed to take part in the competition for high-speed eating of bauyrsaks and drinking koumiss!

The holiday was a success! Bright performances, dances, sporting activities and the most delicious treat, and most importantly, the mood of everyone who was lucky to be there, made Nauryz an unforgettable event of the year
