Kazakhstan Press Club Internet edition: The results of the competition "Zachot-2015" are summed up!

The VII Republican Competition "Zachot" among authors and mass media's editorial offices on the best coverage of the topic of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan has summed up the results!

The republican contest "ZachOt" was initiated in 2009 Almaty Management University (ALMA University) and for the sixth year was organized with support of the Kazakhstan press club.

The purpose of contest is to draw attention of the public to the problems connected with education in Kazakhstan; informing the population on opportunities of receipt of quality education in the country and abroad, and also stimulation of interest of mass media in deep and unbiased interpretation of problems of education in the country, increase of professionalism of the journalists writing on an educational subject.

This year 298 works from 48 authors were submitted for competition. 22 newspapers, 7 sites, 5 TV channels, 1 radio station, 4 news agencies and 4 magazines took part in it.

The main selection criteria by which the work of the jury was guided were: relevance and importance of the publication, problem definition and its in-depth coverage, professionalism and statement skills. The priority was given to the materials, which were sent to competition, but part of nominees were determined by media monitoring of publications for 2015 of the Kazakhstan press club.

The jury of the competition were:

  1. The president of AlmaU Assylbek Kozhakhmetov,
  2. The president of the Kazakhstan press club Asel Karaulova,
  3. DOS Kushim, the political scientist, the head of the public association "Ult tagdyra",
  4. Irina Mednikova, the head of Youth informational service of Kazakhstan
  5. Rustam Niyazov, the head editor of a blogging platform "Yvision".

After reviewing of all provided works and the best materials from monitoring, the jury has determined winners in 20 nominations. Besides, 4 authors became owners of special prizes of contest.

The winners are among the publications:

Forbes.kz website - for illumination of a business education in RK;

The Southern Kazakhstan newspaper - for coverage of the topic of education in regional mass media;

The Central Asia Monitor newspaper - for analytical material about reforms of the highest school in RK;

Kazakh TV - for expert opinion.

Winners among authors:

  • Vladimir Radionov (KazTAG) - for illumination of educational news in informational tape;
  • Alina Albekova (Megapolis newspaper) - for material about entrepreneurial university;
  • Zarina Orumbayeva (Business&Power newspaper) - for material on the topic of foreign education;
  • Katerina Klemenkova (365info.kz website) - for material on the academic honesty;
  • Galina Galkina ("New Generation" newspaper) - for portrait interview;
  • Inkar Nursultanova ("Bilim Shapagaty" newspaper, Taldykorgan) – for article on education in regional mass media;
  • Gulmira Sadyk ("Kazakh Uni" newspaper) - for interview on education;
  • Zhapparbergen Aibota (news agency "Kazakparat") – for illumination of educational news in informational tape in Kazakh language;
  • Rishat Askarbekuly (Astana TV) - for coverage of the topic of education on television".

In addition, Alma University established several special nominations, which were awarded to:

  • to the National Business magazine - for interview with the rector;
  • to Zakon.kz news agency - for material about AlmaU schools;
  • to the "Kazakhstani Truth" newspaper - for illumination of the social project "Unlimited Opportunities";
  • to Almaty TV channel - for material about the social Service Learning project;
  • to the website of photo reports Voxpopuli.kz - for material about the social project "Ulytau";
  • To news agency Bnews.kz – for illumination of the Kazakhstan stage of the StartUp Tour competition.

The winners of the special prizes "ZachOt-2015":

  • Tatyana Trubacheva the head editor of Forbes Woman (Forbes Kazakhstan magazine) - for the material "How Kazakhstani millionaires spent student years"
  • Oleg Boldyrev (Kazakh TV channel) - for coverage of the topic of startups on television;
  • Kalybek Bekbaganbetov (Business&Power newspaper) - for the best artistic realization of the "Ulytau" project;
  • Oksana Akulova (Times newspaper) - for a series of articles about corruption in education.

Also honourable diploma and memorable stele of the republican contest "ZachOt-2015" was received by the Kazakhstan press club as the best media partner.

All winners were awarded by diplomas and steles, and also valuable prizes and souvenirs of Alma University. 20 winners were awarded with smartphones!
