International Day of Education: Learning for people, planet, prosperity, and peace

On 24 January 2020, the world celebrates the International Day of Education, a day proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly to honor education and its centrality to human well-being and sustainable development. The right to education, at least primary, is enshrined in Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of human rights. As stated in an education day concept note by UN, “The 2020 theme ‘Learning for people, planet, prosperity and peace’, highlights the integrated nature of education, its humanistic aims, as well as its centrality to our collective development ambitions».

On this occasion, the UN education day session for the 2nd year AlmaU students was held. SDGs were presented in general, the speaker told about Kazakhstan's success in achieving the goals (in July 2019, Kazakhstan introduced its first Voluntary National Review on Sustainable Development Goals in New York). The main part of speech was dedicated to the actions that the University and every student can make in order to contribute to the achievement of goals. On the International day of education, Almaty Management University expresses its commitment to Sustainable development goals.
