Global Student Challenge

On January 15, 2021, AlmaU held a pitching within the framework of the international student competition Global Student Challenge, an annual competition run by the Babson Collaborative.

The Global Student Challenge is an annual competition for student business concepts.Teams develop a project aimed at achieving one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The competition is held in two stages:

1. Local stage

AlmaU students sign up their teams and start creating their project. Based on the results of the local stage, the 3 top business concepts are selected for further participation in the international competition.

2️. Global stage

3 teams selected locally will become participants in the Global Student Challenge and will be able to compete for prizes from Babson College.

 

The local stage was attended by 32 teams (130 students) from different academic fields: School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, School of Management, School of Politics and Law, School of Engineering Management and School of Economics and Finance.

 

32 teams had to develop their own start-up under the guidance of a mentor (employee, teaching staff of the university). Mentors were: Tyutyunnikova Marina Vladimirovna, Merkel Vladimir Yurievich, Sabirov Dilmurat Zakirovich, Shalbaeva Sholpan Eslambekovna, Alferova Alena Aleksandrovna, Ayazbayeva Gulnara Narabekovna, Ayazbaeva Gulnara , Zhanbyrbaeva Sanim Mamanovna, Gribov Mikhail Sergeevich, Salimbaeva Albina Saparbayevna, Mukhsiynov Aibol Orynbekovich, Antikeeva Aim Toleuovna, Serikbekova Aigerim, Toleubaev Almas Maratovich, Kazybaeva Aiman, Danialy Saariovna, Damiina; Zhakypbek Lyaylya Beketovna, Sokhatskaya Natalya Pavlovna, Kazybayeva Aiman ​​Melisovna, Sadykova Raushan Baizhanovna, Tugaev Adilbek Sansyzbaevich, Artykbaeva Aigerim Nurlangyzy, Mukhsiyynov Aibol Orynbekovich, Tapkraalov Ildarovna, Sadykova Aildarovna.

Teams became semi-finalists of the competition

1st place - TheFlow (Saukimov Nursultan, Makhambetova Karina, Hasan Khvaja, Bayanbai Aikanym)

2nd place - Organic toothbrush (Zhanbolatov Ali, Kulakeev Olzhas, Sayasatova Aruzhan, Baltagozhin Damir)

3rd place - FeelTray (Usmonova Arshyn, Tolebaeva Balnur, Hakim Arsen)

 

The jury noted that teams have done excellent work especially in identifying social and regional problems, and the UN SDGs were correctly selected for subsequent implementation in the framework of student startups.

AlmaU has determined its three top teams. These teams will further partake in the Global Student Challenge: 2nd Phase. Winning teams will travel to Babson College to participate in the Babson Build Program in the upcoming June 2021. ⠀
