The leading film school of South Korea KAFA and the School of Media and Film AlmaU
From September 5 to September 23, 2022, KAFA KINO LAB jointly holds a Cinema Lab in Almaty.
An open competition is announced for participation in this laboratory among young Kazakhstani producers and directors.
The purpose of the project: international co-production, joint development of projects.
6 Kazakh and 6 Korean participants will be selected to participate in this laboratory, which during the training will be united in 6 teams consisting of a producer and a director representing different countries. During the training, participants will listen to lectures by leading producers, directors and screenwriters of Korea and Kazakhstan, will participate in workshops with the participation of experienced mentors, and, in the final, will present their projects at an open pitching. The winners will be awarded with prizes and the opportunity to enter the co-production.
Selection criteria:
• Creative viability, desire to create films in co-production with other countries.
• A producer or director must have one full-length feature film or several short films in their portfolio.
• Knowledge of English at such a level to communicate with a foreign partner and take trainings.
To participate in the competition, you must send an application with the following documents:
1. Biofilmography of the director or producer with links to films or trailers.
2. Treatment of the script of the future film in English (volume 5-7 pages)
The final deadline for submitting documents is August 21, 2022.
