AlmaU teachers took 1st place in EPAM hackathon

On September 29, 2018 Astana hosted an open event for developers Codenjoy organized by “EPAM” IT company.

It is a mini hackathon for those who love programming, artificial intelligence and bot battles. During the hackathon, participants used different platforms, approaches and programming languages.

The competition was attended by 16 teams from different cities of Kazakhstan. Including a team called “AlmaU” as part of AlmaU School of Engineering Management Dean Kuanysh Abeshev and AlmaU Professor Timur Bakibayev.

Before the game started, the organizers talked about TDD practices, pair programming, code refactoring, and Clean Code. After the presentation, the participants were provided with the game “Tetris” on the Codenjoy platform, for which they need to write their bot (AI). The winner of the final is considered a bot who has scored the maximum number of points in 15 minutes.

According to the results of the competition, AlmaU team won the first place.
