The purpose of the research is to identify business schools in the CIS that are developing in various directions according to the best world standards: through obtaining accreditations of the "first level", entering the global rankings of universities in the business areas, management and economics, the dynamics of international publication activity, partnership agreements and double diploma programs together with the first-level accredited foreign universities.

The Analytical Center "Expert" determines the visibility of business schools from Russia and the CIS countries on the international market through three key criteria: the most prestigious independent external assessments (international accreditations and rankings), the level of research in economics and management, and the partnership projects with the world leading institutions. There are other indicators of the global visibility of business schools as of 2021:

  • institutional membership and accreditation in organizations such as AACSB, AMBA, EFMD, CEEMAN;
  • subject growth in the global rankings such as QS, THE;
  • publication activity of business schools in magazines included in the ABDC (Australian Business Deans Council) and AJG (Academic Journal Guide) ratings by the Chartered Association of Business Schools.

AlmaU is recognized as one of the best universities in the category of "actively promoting business schools in the international market" (with a development path through accreditation and partnerships). In terms of the number of double degree programs at all levels of education (bachelor's, master's, MBA, and DBA), AlmaU has taken the 2nd place among 26 business schools in the CIS, and the 6th place among 10 participants in terms of the number of partnerships with foreign universities that have the "first-level" accreditation. AlmaU was noted in the leaders’ list in the number of partnerships with business schools in Russia and the CIS. The university currently has 6 partner business school in Russia and the CIS.

It should be noted that 4 business schools were included in the ranking from Kazakhstan (AlmaU, Graduate School of Business and Economics at Narxoz University, Bang College of Business at KIMEP, Graduate School of Business at Nazarbayev University), Belarus is represented by the IPM Business School, and Azerbaijan - by ADA University.

* "First-level" accreditations - the most prestigious accreditations of the world's business schools, which include the American institutional accreditation AACSB, the British accreditation of MBA programs AMBA and two accreditations of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD): institutional accreditation EQUIS and program accreditation EPAS (now this accreditation transformed into the EFMD Program Accreditation). The presence of all three accreditations - AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS (the "triple crown") - allows the business school to stand on a par with the best business schools in the world.

  ** Analytical Center "Expert" is the Russian analytical center that specializes in applied research in the field of politics and economics, the formation of industry reviews and company ratings, as well as the organization of discussion of research results aimed at expert support for economic development.
