Students of IAB College won the competition of social startups and going to England!

On 27th of January winners of the competition of social startups among college students of the Kazakhstan within the program "I-SEED: innovations – social entrepreneurship and education" were determined. Students of IAB College won the prize for the first place, which is a trip to England!

In 2015, students from four colleges of Almaty took part in the project: College of the industry of tourism and hospitality, Central Asian technical and economic college, College of the international academy of business, Almaty College of a rail transport.

Representatives of businesses, government agencies and educational institutions organized the contest.   The jury considered the following projects as the best: "New view of history" (authors - college students IAB), aimed for the development of social tourism in Kazakhstan and "Circulation of Good" (College of tourism and hospitality), aimed to provide financial assistance for children with serious illnesses. The authors of these startups expect a study tour to the UK to explore the best practices in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Students of IAB College won the special prize from Chevron Company with the project: “They want to live” which aim is to attract people’s attention to the problem of homeless animals.

Program "I-SEED: innovations – social entrepreneurship and education" is realized in partnership with the Chevron company since 2013. According to the representative of the company Leila Aitmukhanova: "This project is a successful example of the strategy of the Chevron Company on development of economic potential of citizens, with the simultaneous solution of specific social problems of society".

During the competition, students independently developed and implemented 24 projects for 650 beneficiaries, and actively involved in volunteer activities of about 600 people. Social projects of the participants were aimed to support the elderly people and poor families, the socialization and the development of life skills of children in orphanages, raising environmental awareness of young people, promoting a healthy lifestyle, socialization of children with disabilities, education of responsible attitude to pets and others.

On the trainings that was organized within the framework of I-SEED, students acquired knowledge, which helped them with implementation of their ideas. The training program included modules on business planning, social entrepreneurship, management of finance, development of communicative and presentation skills, career planning and fundraising.

In total students of IAB college prepared and realized 8 social projects:

  1. "A new view on history" – development of a management on the organization of a tourist route for youth with disabilities and regulations of their accompaniment;
  2. "The world without needs" – attraction of attention of the public to problems poor people through social entrepreneurship;
  3. "My way to a favorite profession" – the help to pupils of the 9th grade classes in conscious choice of profession, on the basis of the preferences and opportunities;
  4. "Training of financial literacy, Play understand, act" – trainings by means of which school and university students can develop the financial skills through business and economic games;
  5. "Silence of society" – the project that change the attitude of society towards the people who need  support;
  6. "Organic Food" - formation of knowledge about health and right nutrition;
  7. "The evolution of purity" - help in the formation of children and young people a sense of civic responsibility, cultural behavior and respect for the environment;
  8. "They want to live" – attraction of people's attention to a problem of homeless animals.
