AlmaU students took part at the charitable marathon in Astana
Last Sunday, on September 13, the charitable marathon “BKS AIR ASTANA MARATHON 2015” took place in Astana. The organizers of this event were British-Kazakh society and “Air Astana”.
Such marathons are being conducted for a few years. But earlier the distance in the capital was organized in the form of semi-marathon, but this year it was decided to make the traditional marathon with the distance of 42 km 195 m. Thus, the competition was conducted in four distances: 5 km, 10km, 21 km 097,5 m, 42 km 195 m.
AlmaU students, the “Run For Life” running club members participated in the marathon and this shows that Alma University is for the Healthy life-style and strives to participate in numerous sport events not only in Almaty, but in other cities of Kazakhstan also.
560 sportsmen took part in the marathon, 128 of which are foreign sportsmen from 18 countries of the world. Besides, this year Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov and Astana city’s akim Adilbek Dzhaksybekov decided to take part in this marathon.
Since the marathon is charitable, every participant had to pay registration fee – this year its amount reached 20 English pounds or 7500 Kazakhstan tenge. According to the tradition all the money will be directed to the realization of projects of the Charitable Foundation “AYALA”.
