The university at which Francis Bacon studied, became the partner of AlmaU!
From 17 to 22 of February the delegation from Almaty Management University (before IAB) during working visit to France, visited a number of foreign universities, which are a long-term partners, and universities with which AlmaU is planing to establish cooperation.
The delegation of AlmaU was represented by president of the University Assylbek Kozhakhmetov, first vice-rector Almagul Kanagatova, chief specialist of international development department Rim Abdullin.
Establishment of partnership with Poitiers University became one of important results of a trip. One of the oldest universities in France, is located in Poitiers - a real student's town with a population of only 80 000, and 25 000 of them are students. Another feature of Poitiers is that the history and modernity woven together. The city still has ancient buildings of faculties, and at the same time functioning modern first-class audiences for 800 people.
The University was founded in 1431 by Charles VII. Among the most famous graduates: Francois Rabelais, René Descartes, Francis Bacon, and William Shakespeare. "We were impressed especially by audience for thesis defense of doctoral programs, it is the gallery made from works of the greatest's! Each department has majestic libraries, where literature is collected, from antiquity to the present day, which creates great conditions for study and rest! - said the first Vice - Rector Almagul Kanagatova.
Under the agreement signed with university, Poitiers School of Law will provide support in formation of AlmaU School of the Law. This will become one of the directions of cooperation between two universities.
Also representatives of the Kazakhstan higher educational institution visited longterm partner of AlmaU in the sphere of the academic exchange and mobility – IESEG School of Management. Among those who welcomed the Kazakhstan delegation were French students who studied in Almaty Management University according to exchange programs. Students noted that they were very happy with the study.
Besides, delegation met with Stephen Murdoch, Associate Dean, who made maximum effort in formation of partnership between Kazakhstan and French universities in 2010.
"We have talked with students of IESEG School of Management, who have chosen our university for study according to programs of exchange. We liked their spirit and respect for our country, and they will arrive to AlmaU soon! In turn, this year 8 our students will be able to visit Paris and Lille within the the exchange! The IESEG Shool is waiting for our teachers for lecturing about management in the Kazakhstan companies, respectively, French professor on entrepreneurial thinking will come to AlmaU. Besides, we agreed about participation of representatives of the French higher educational institution in summer school for teachers of English language! I believe that our new partners from universities of France will become much more native and closer to us within few years!", - noted Almagul Kanagatova.
