AlmaU students know about human rights!
At the International youth juristic forum “Protection of human rights in conditions of struggle with terrorism” 4th year student of the School of Law Victor Eremchuk took 3rd place in essay competition. Prize winner was awarded with diploma and money prize on the sum of 50 000 tenge.
Forum, dedicated to the Worldwide Day of protection of human rights, was held in Astana on the basis of KazSJU (Kazakh State Juristic University) with the support of the office of OSCE programs in Astana and “Soros-Kazakhstan” foundation. In essay contest, which held in frames of Forum, participated students of juristic specialties of 24 universities and social organizations. In spite of the big number of participants, Victor managed to prepare worthy work, the great contribution of which was made by his scientific supervisor Aiymgul Tleuzhanova, c.j.s., docent, head of “Law” department in AlmaU.
International essay contest on the given topic among students-jurists was held not only for participants from Kazakhstan, but for the guys from other countries. There were about 90 works applied by applicants, represented in English, Russian and English. What is more, jury were maximally serious in assessment of works and even conducted careful check of works on plagiarism in order to be more objective.
During the Forum, also were held expert hearings and national student debate tournament. Particularly, at the panel discussion, representatives of state organs, academic environment and non-governmental organizations of protection of rights discussed actual questions and mechanisms of protection of human rights in conditions of counteraction to terrorism, forcible extremism and radicalization. Dean of School of Law Zhannetta Kalisheva in her performance raised a problem of victims of terroristic attacks, compensations to civilians, responsibility of the state in provision of safety of people’s lives.
