Researchers from Japan visited AlmaU
On January 30, 2017 a delegation from Japan visited Almaty Management University within the frame of research of professional human resources in Central Asia.
It is noteworthy that the guests decided on their own to visit one of universities of Kazakhstan. As a result, the Chamber of entrepreneurs of Almaty and the Japanese international cooperation Agency (JICA) offered the delegation to visit the first private business University in Kazakhstan – AlmaU.
Prerequisite of this arrival was the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Shinzo Abe to Kazakhstan in October 2015. Looking back, that time, Mr. Abe said that the "industry improvement" and "human resource development" are one of the main components of Japanese cooperation in the field of development with Central Asia countries. A continuation of the ideas expressed by the Prime Minister, was supposed to be a research aiming to gather information on the development of professional human resources in industrial sphere and analyze the current problems and the need for support, and to provide for possible cooperation between Japan and five Central Asian countries, i.e. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
Members of the Japanese delegation, who arrived in AlmaU, were along with representatives from JICA, researchers involved from C. O. P. Corporation, as well as employees of Global Development & Management Consultants Inc. Among the guests there were: senior adviser on human resource development in industry sphere Noboru Kakisu; Deputy senior adviser on scientific and engineering education Takayuki Motoya; adviser on technical and vocational education and training Tadao Ishii; advisor on needs analysis of human resources in industry sphere Masami Tsuyuki; Advisor on education policy Etsuko Ikeda; advisor on analysis of industrial structure Manami Takeda; coordinator for education analysis Kazukha Okada.
At first the guests were given a tour around the campus, they liked the infrastructure of the university very mush. They visited the new atrium of the university, in the newly-built Creative Zone and AlmaU Museum, and then they saw a presentation about the university and its development plans.
Speaking about the university plans, AlmaU Vice-rector for academic development Gulmira Kurganbaeva noted that there will be a new building near the present campus of the University soon, where Kaidzen laboratory will operate, as well as the laboratory of School of Engineering management, which was recently opened in the business university.
Guests were pleased with the visit and noted that they will keep in mind our University in case of interest of Japanese companies and universities in any activity in Kazakhstan.
