Almaty Management University in partnership with Yessenov Foundation conducts Big Data courses
Almaty Management University, as a university that prepares bachelors in “Business analytics and Big Data”specialty, has been collaborating with Yessenov Foundation for the second year in a row with great interest and on a mutually beneficial basis and accepting Big Data Team coaches (Moscow) and students ofYessenov data lab summer school.
This year, on June 10, an 8-week intensive module course was launched, which offers students to get acquainted with the profession of data analytics, solve real business problems and further improve their knowledge on their own. The intensive course consists of a 7-week study and a week is provided for solving business cases. The course runs until August 2. At present, over 20 people study at the courses. They represent different regions and schools of our country. We talked to students, AlnurMedet, Nazarbaev University ("Electrical and Computer Engineering"specialty, 3rd year student, Nur-Sultan):
Question:What is your interest in Big Data courses?
AlnurMedet:“To attend the courses that take place at AlmaU was my old dream. Since still studying in the 2nd year of university, I thought about it and started looking for courses on “Big Data”. This is today's trend in IT field. After analysing the search for courses, I decided to submit documents for participation in the competition for recruiting students for Yessenov data lab Summer School. Having completed all the necessary tours, I enrolled in courses.
Question: Your recommendations and suggestions?
AlnurMedet:I wish productivity to the work of Yessenov data lab Summer School and wish success to lecturers, organizers in achieving the goal, particularly in promoting such a trend direction as “Business analytics and Big Data” in Kazakhstani IT segment. I got acquainted with Almaty Management University and the staff of School of Engineering Management, I wish you to be always ahead in implementing innovative programs.
YerzhanKenzhegaliev, web developer (graduate of Waterloo University (Canada), Uralsk): “Big Data”, in other words, Artificial Intelligence is really a long-term trend in IT industry, which is in great demand in the world. For my self-development, I’m constantly searching for advanced education courses and in March of this year I found information about the announcement of recruitment for Yessenov data lab Summer School. I carried out all the required tasks in stages and found myself here in Almaty, within the walls of AlmaU.
Question:What are your feelings at the end of 6-weeks course?
YerzhanKenzhegaliev:I want especially to emphasizethat I haven’thad such a rich and long-term programme as at Yessenov data lab Summer School neither in Europe nor in the USA. Here, trainers provide a broad look at a given topic and all materials are very detailed. While searching for relevant courses, I studied such as Skolkovo Summer Schools, Boot Camp. For example, in the USA there are online courses Data Incubator. They are intended for more experienced professionals who have PhD, MSc. The exclusivity of Big Data courses within Yessenov data lab Summer School is that the courses cover young professionals and provide a great opportunity to find yourself in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The courses have an atmosphere of friendliness. My fellow students are actively participating in discussions, and our small professional community is already being created. And it pleases.
