ALMATY CASE COMPETITION: BREAKTHROUGH SOLUTIONS FOR REAL BUSINESS CHALLENGES OF KAZAKHSTANI COMPANIES

This Saturday, on February 27, School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation held Crack It event. The event aims to bring companies and students together where students, divided in teams, develop solutions to the cases given by private companies.  

More than 150 people took part in the Almaty Case Competition, representing Almaty Management University, KIMEP University, Narxoz University, Kazakh-British Technical University and Kazakh-German University.

“We believe that by building a sustainable dialogue between different education institutions, we can make our city better,” says Asem Kabulova, coordinator of the Almaty Case Competition, project manager at the AlmaU School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The idea of ​ case championship is an opportunity for students to get acquainted with the real tasks of Kazakhstani companies and offer their own unconventional solution.

 

Business cases

 

  • MARS invited participants to make a new unique proposal for Network N for comprehensive support of the pet food segment.
  • Kazakhyuvelir company invited the participants to think about positioning the company among a young audience and to offer new digital tools for brand promotion.
  • EFES invited participants to develop a mobile application to expand its customer pool and ensure incline of consumer loyalty.  
  • DAR invited the participants to solve the problem of finding an internship for students and young professionals, as well as create their own vision of a future internship program.
  • The Rakhmet company invited the participants to think about how to solve the problems with tips in restaurants if there is no cash.
  • The Dostyk Hotel invited the participants to develop proposals for attracting new customers through the creation of new services.

“I took part in the case championship for the first time, I realized that teamwork is a lot of work,” says a participant when addressing questions in the post-event survey.

 

Winners

 

The Sieben team from the Kazakh-German University became the winner in the first league. The team got access to the course on the educational platform "Netologia". League partner: MARS.

The Sunorak team from the Kazakh-British Technical University became the winner in the second league. The team gained access to the MyBook online library. League partner: Efes Kazakhstan.

TBS TEAM from Almaty Management University became the winner in the third league. The team received branded backpacks from a partner and access to the Upgrade Plus educational platform. League partner: DAR and Upgrade.

Big Mind team from Almaty Management University became the winner in the fourth league. The team received 20,000 bonus tenge to an account in Rahmet App and a certificate for 50,000 tenge in Qazaq Republic. League partner: Rakhmet.

The B2B team from Almaty Management University became the winner in the fifth league. The team got access to the hotel's spa for the whole day. League partner: Dostyk Hotel.

The Morning Stars team from Almaty Management University became the winner in the sixth league. The team received a certificate in the amount of 100,000 tenge. League partner: Kazakhyuvelir.

‘Thank you very much to the organizers. I didn't expect it to be so interesting. The presenters are just great! They did not let me get bored at all and created an excellent atmosphere’, - says participant in the feedback questionnaire.
